About Me / Experience
I am Director of Eaton Gate Practice. I have considerable experience as a therapist and work with people from a broad range of backgrounds on a wide variety of issues and difficulties.
I attempt to keep a balance between challenging and supporting clients. In practice, this means that we will use our relationship in the therapeutic room as a vehicle for change and insights about your life. I pay attention not only to individual psychological problems but also to the wider socio-political context including gender, sexual indentity, and race as these also significantly impact on our wellbeing.
I have particular experience in bereavement, loss and relationship difficulties. I can help if you are struggling in a relationship, or are coming to terms with the end of a relationship. I can also help if you feel unable to make attachments or find it difficult to form or sustain relationships. I have an interest in cross-cultural dynamics and trans-generational trauma. I work closely with the Refugee Council and provide services to individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling to settle with their new circumstances. My doctorate dealt specifically in these themes.
I provide long-term psychotherapy and counselling, and short-term therapy, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Schema therapy, Mentalisation based therapy (12-16 sessions), and Mindfulness in a safe and non judgmental setting. I am also trained psychodynamic couples therapist from the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations.
